K9 Nose Work® Clinic Optional Sessions Description

Intro to K9NW
(No odor, 1st or add'l sessions)

This clinic is for anyone who is interested in learning about the activity and sport of K9 Nose Work®. No prior experience necessary. We will start with the dog's primary reinforcer, food or toy, no target odor in this session.

Intro to Odor
(Introduction to Birch)

This clinic is for anyone who participated in the previous Intro to K9 Nose Work® clinic using primary rewards. We will add some paired odor for their first introduction to a target scent.

Novice K9NW/Pre-NW1
(New to Birch)

This clinic is for anyone who participated in the previous Intro to Odor K9 Nose Work® clinic OR those who have worked with a CNWI or ANWI to be introducted to Birch odor. Generally these teams have not yet successfully completed an ORT. We will use odor unpaired or paired with primary rewards and incorporate additional challenges.

Continuing/
NW1, NW2
(Birch or Birch/Anise)

These clinics are available for anyone who has begun training the game with me or any other CNWI or ANWI. We will continue training using our first target odor, Birch and possibly Anise for dogs further advanced. Instruction will be based on your dog's current level of training. Note: The challenges at these sessions are very customized to the participants and applicable to all of the more advanced levels. Dogs will be grouped according to experience.

Advanced/
NW2/NW3/NW3+
(Birch/Anise/Clove)

These clinics are available for anyone who has begun training the game with me or any other CNWI or ANWI. We will continue training using Birch and Anise, often Clove for dogs further advanced. Instruction will be based on your dog's current level of training. Note: The challenges at these sessions are very customized to the participants and applicable to all of the more advanced levels. Dogs will be grouped according to experience.

Elite
(Birch/Anise/Clove)

These clinics are available for anyone who has achieved their NW3 Elite title and are actively working at the ELITE competition level. These clinics are a bit unique in that we often work blind trial-like searches as a run through and then break down the skills and areas needed for more development in each team.
